Humanistic Counselling/Person-Centred
Counselling
Humanistic counselling is a supportive therapy where you are
given the safety and space to share your concerns. Its core conditions are that of empathy and
acceptance.
The philosophy of
Humanistic Counselling is based on the
principles that individuals are full of potential for
growth. All people are capable of being loving, creative and knowledgeable given the right conditions.
The
humanistic approach encourages self-awareness and self-realisation with
the focus being predominately on the individuals unique, personal
potential to explore creativity, growth, love and psychological understanding.
Particular attention is paid to combining the past, present and
future, rather than concentrating on one specific are, problem or issue.
What to expect
You will be provided
with the opportunity to explore creativity, personal growth and self-development, as well as acknowledging a
variety of choices. You will be provided with a deeper understanding of who you are, what you feel, what your hopes
are and the opportunity to explore the possibility of creating personal
choices.
The counsellor will ask
questions which will lead you to discover in depth your feelings,
your needs and your hopes. The therapist will be empathetic,
understanding, supportive and non-judgemental at all
times. The counsellor will focus on how you can be helped to fulfill your
full potential and lead a more contented life.
